The Principle of Least Action

An Explorative Investigation of Learning Difficulties and Teaching Strategies

Master thesis defense by Despoina Bouzounieraki

Abstract:

The Principle of Least Action is very important in Physics and is usually introduced to students during an Advanced Mechanics course. In this thesis, some of the learning difficulties on the topic are explored by interviewing bachelor students and alternative teaching methods are suggested to improve the students' understanding before they participate in a Advanced Mechanics course.
