Associate Professor Débora Coimbra for a 6-month research stay at DSE

Associate Professor Débora Coimbra – Federal University of Uberlândia, Brazil – will spend a 6-month research stay at DSE from mid September, 2016. Débora is trained as a physicist and has a special interest in physics education and teacher training. She will mainly be working with Ricardo Karam at the Didactics of Physics group in a project that investigates the original formulation of the concept of entropy by Josiah W. Gibbs. The main focus of her project is to study the process of didactical transposition of this concept from Gibbs' originals to classical textbooks like Callen's Thermodynamics and an Introduction to Thermostatistics. During her stay Débora will also interact with Carl Winsløw (French didactic tradition) and with colleagues involved with teaching thermodynamics at the Niels Bohr Institute.
