N2 - The objective of this paper is to analyze the relationship between information and thought in the context of the Philosophy of Mind. My central question is: "What is the role of information in the process of consolidation of new habits?". To achieve this aim, I analyze the concept of information, focusing on its semiotic aspects, as defined by Charles S. Peirce (1839- 1914). Then, I analyze the Peircean notion of Mind highlighting the process of thought that takes place in the three kinds of reasoning: abduction, deduction and induction. Two hypotheses will guide the work: (H1) Information about objects indicates their characteristics or predicates, allowing organisms embedded in the same environments to adjust their conduct; (H2) The unveiling of information, in the context of Philosophy of Mind, “fuels” thought and thus consolidates new habits. In short, we intend to analyze the role of information in the development of thought from a Peircean semiotics in the context of Philosophy of Mind.
