Interplay between research and teaching from the perspective of mathematicians

In this paper, we examine the relation between teaching and research on mathematics
in universities. We suggest that this relation can be fruitfully examined from the
perspective of mathematicians' praxeologies (organisations of didactical and mathematical
practice). We illustrate the approach with data from an interview study involving
five top-level mathematicians.
