The Near Future Teaching project (webinar w/Siân Bayne)

About the webinar

The Near Future Teaching project ran between 2017 and 2019, with the goal to develop a values-based vision for the future of digital education at the University of Edinburgh. Led by Prof. Siân Bayne, it used futures-thinking and design-based methodologies including educational scenario design with more than 400 students, staff and other stakeholders in the production of this vision. Scenarios ranged from exploring the datafication of education, the impact of climate change, automation, human-machine relations, through to new forms of educational organisation. Siân will present the context and activities of the project with particular focus on the project’s methods involving scenario design and the implications this has for how we think about and prepare for possible futures in education.
