About the Network

Aim

The aim of the Danish Network in Philosophy of Science is to provide a forum for collaboration among philosophers of science through regular meetings, invitation and exchange of visitors, and funding for conference participation and linguistic revision of research publications.

Activities in the network serve to promote new and lasting research collaboration among Danish philosophers of science and with international partners, promote the participation by Danish philosophers of science in high ranking international conferences, and support research processes that can lead to publications in high ranking international journals.

Focus of the network is primarily on philosophy of the natural sciences (including mathematics).

The network has been supported by the Danish Council for Independent Research ǀ Humanities (2013-2016).

Focus Areas

New trends in general philosophy of science

Activities in this area will explore current trends in the philosophy of science in the form of joint research seminars with invited researchers of high international caliber, discussion groups, and other coordinated activities such as pre-submission peer-review.

Philosophy of science and scientific proficiency

Activities in this area will focus on research on the relation between history and philosophy of science and science education, and on concrete collaborations on course development, exchange of teaching material etc for mandatory philosophy of science courses in BSc programs

Philosophy of science and responsible conduct of science

Activities in this area will focus on preparing a web-based e-textbook for courses in responsible conduct of science for PhD students in the natural and biomedical sciences.
