Computational writing and data science education

Speakers:

Adrienne Traxler and Morten Misfeldt

Abstract:

At the university level, “data science” can mean everything from statistical basics, to programming languages, to ethics and privacy issues. We will discuss two presentations for the upcoming International Conference on Quantitative Ethnography, both about data science in the Center for Pharmaceutical Data Science Education. One presentation centers on computational writing—the combination of prose, data analysis code, and interpretation made popular through R or Python “notebooks.” The other presentation looks at a prototype framework for data science content elements to be included in pharmacy education.
