The curriculum problem in toolbox courses in data science
Start-up Seminar with Jonas Rysgaard Jensen

Abstract:
In this start-up seminar, I will give a presentation of my PhD project in the field of university statistics education.
An introductory course in statistics is part of many university science programmes. It is not uncommon for such courses to be taught by faculty with a main background in statistics. In these cases, it is a major challenge for the teacher to understand how statistics appears in the practice of the students’ discipline to develop a statistics course that is relevant to the students.
Through a design-based research approach, this project aims at developing and investigating sustainable methods for determining how statistics appears in the practice of university science students outside of statistics courses
