Coordinating Mathematical Competencies and Computational Thinking Practices from a Networking of Theories Point of View
Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceeding › Book chapter › Research › peer-review
Computational thinking (CT) has played an increasing role in mathematics education and has confronted teachers and researchers with the challenge of addressing CT from a mathematics education point of view. Building on Weintrop et al.’s (2016) taxonomy for computational thinking practices and the KOM framework (Niss & Højgaard, 2002), this chapter seeks to coordinate relevant mathematical competencies (MCs) and computational thinking practices from a networking of theories point of view. Specifically, this chapter articulates the relevant MCs to consider in supporting students in engaging in CT practices and uncovering related opportunities.
